are you ready for
40 DAYS OF COMMUNITY?

You may have seen 40 Days of Community signs popping up around the church and wondered what it’s all about. It is an effort to build the sense of community in our area, and in our church. This campaign is going to change all of our lives because this is the one time we align everything from children, youth, and adults to focus on spiritually deepening ourselves and our church. Small groups will be meeting in homes and on campus once a week for six weeks where we will focus on deepening relationships and serving our communities. In this campaign we’re going to answer the question, “what on earth are WE here for?” and look at how God’s purposes relate to our church and our local community.

In order to get the most out of this campaign, you need to be in a small group! We are asking everyone in our church to participate in the following ways:

1. Join or host a 40 Days small group. Your group will meet once a week for six weeks. You can join or host a group by visiting the Community Center outside the Worship Center or by contacting Jay Gordon, Pastor of Small Groups, at 664-0122 or jay.gordon@wwbc.org.

2. Attend a weekend church service every week. Commit to attending all seven weekends during the campaign.

3. Read the 40 daily devotionals based on the “one another” passages found in the Bible and we will all read these daily through the six weeks of the campaign.

4. Memorize scripture. Each of the six weeks includes one verse that we will memorize together as a church.

5. Participate in a community service project with your small group. Visit the Community Center outside the Worship Center for information on these projects.

40 Days of Community is a step of faith we’ve taken as a church and because you’re involved you’re going to grow too! By getting into a small group you’re not only going to experience all the campaign has to offer, you’re going to make some friends. And we can’t wait to hear the stories of how God has changed your life and the lives of others in our small groups.

Westwood Small Group Ministry
It is very important that everyone at Westwood experience the love of God in a safe environment. We believe that that is accomplished best through our small groups. 40 Days of Community will be a time for all of us to strengthen the love we have for each other and those in our neighborhoods.

Our Adult Bible study classes will study a condensed lesson pertaining to community at their regularly schedule time on Sunday mornings. We will not have evening worship for the weeks of October 23rd, October 30th, November 6th, and November 13th so that classes can meet with their care groups during that time. We encourage these groups to continue the study they discussed that morning in depth and to have a time of food, fellowship and prayer. Our Foundations Home Groups will meet at their regularly scheduled times and will study the full lesson together. We also want each home group to fellowship and pray together.

We want EVERYONE at Westwood to be able to participate in a small group. We need to start approximately 30 groups in addition to our existing groups for 100% of our congregation to be plugged in to a group. Will you consider hosting a group for this study? We have 5 hosts who have committed to starting groups so far, so we need quite a few more! It doesn’t take a Bible scholar to be a host! You just need to have a warm smile and a willing heart. Each lesson is video based, so there is very little preparation involved. Please consider opening your home for the six weeks of the study. We will provide all the information and training you need to get off to a great start!

If you would like more information about hosting a group, please contact Jay Gordon, Pastor of Small Groups, at 664-0122 or send him an email at jay.gordon@wwbc.org.
