ABS & Home Group Leader Covenant

Please read this carefully, and if in agreement, use the link at the bottom

to continue to the online leader information page.

The goal of this covenant is to help us all be accountable for being the people God called us to be, living our  lives close to God and clean before Him,  so that the people we encounter are transformed as the Holy Spirit uses the witness of our life to call them  to a closer walk with Jesus Christ.    Please read carefully the following statements, then sign to affirm your participation as an Adult Bible Study Leader/Home Group Leader in the coming year.

1.  I will serve the following year as a small group leader, seeking to faithfully lead my group to be growing

disciples of Jesus Christ by Connecting with God, Growing with Believers, Serving in the Church and

Living on Mission.

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others…”    (1 Peter 4:10)

2.  I will grow spiritually by practicing the spiritual disciples of personal Bible study and prayer.

3.  I will actively participate in reaching lost and unchurched persons for Christ and His church.

“God… gave us the ministry of reconciliation:  (2 Cor. 5:18)

4.  I will actively participate in the body of Christ through the following means: my small group, Sunday morning

             worship and service opportunities.

“Let us not give up meeting together… but let us encourage one another...” (Heb 10:25 NIV)

5.  I will lead my small group to work cooperatively with the vision and goals of the church and its staff.

“Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must
           give an account.”
  (Hebrews 13:17)

6.  I will personally and corporately deal with conflict in a Scriptural manner.  I will not allow negative comments

in my group without seeking godly resolution.

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up

according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”  (Eph. 4:29)

“If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault. (Matthew 18:15)

7.  I will faithfully participate in training and planning meetings for small group leaders. (a minimum expectation is

attendance at 75% of the events)

and who correctly handles the word of truth.”    (2 Tim 2:15 NIV)

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  (Luke 12:34)

practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.     (Matthew 23:23)

9.  I will maintain a morally pure and ethical life, both in public and private.

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says”    (James 1:22)

10. I will completely refrain from the use of alcoholic beverages, from gambling and other practices that might

cause some to question our Christian walk.

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.   Do not cause
     anyone to stumble…  1 Cor 10:31-32

11. I will support and carry out the vision of Westwood’s Small Groups Ministry, placing the needs of the body

above the needs of my group.

“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself

up in love, as each part does its work.”       (Eph 4:16 NIV)

12. I will step down from service if the Small Groups Ministry Team and Senior Pastor are in agreement that it is

no longer in the best interest of the church for me to serve.

teach will be judged more strictly.”  (James 3:1)
